Word Salads Must Go

Whatever happened to stating something clearly, with the intention of providing clarity? The more tools we have, the further, it seems, we are from clarity.

I have many times felt like a dumb person in discussions because I can't make sense of what some people say. I can make an assumption, sure. But is the intention really to be so ambiguous that everyone walks away with their own version of what was said?

You may ask: why not request clarity? Yes, of course! But if you get a similar barrage of fancy-sounding words in response that amount to nothing, and you know you can't expect any better, what do you do?

With the birth of AI, it is now possible to have transcriptions and summaries of discussions. But AI hasn't made unclear thinking any clearer.

I sometimes wonder if people speak vaguely because they haven't finished thinking. Or maybe saying "I don't know" feels uncomfortable. I can only assume from my writing desk.

To me, unclear language is often a symptom of unclear thinking. Explaining something in simple terms is one of the toughest things we can do.

What a waste of vocabulary!
